What anti-spyware software (if any) should I install on my laptop?

I have a newish laptop (it’s about 6 months old) that I’ve never really used much. I’ve been using it more lately and I was just wondering whether I should install some antispyware on it? My desktop has Spybot and Ad-aware. I really love Spybot in particular. I know Comcast has some anti-spyware thing, but I’m not sure if it’s good. What do you think? Thanks.

How do you delete spyware that says its in use by your computer?

Just A Newbie asked:

The programs are called Network Monitor and Command Server.
Spybot & Ad-Aware lists them as spyware. It says that they’re in use and that I should restart to delete them. But it never deletes it and I can’t find it with Ctrl/Alt/Del.
I found Network Monitor and I tried to manually delete it. It wouldn’t. So I moved it to the desktop and tried to delete it. Its still there. HELP!!!

will buying an antivirus software such as Norton Antivirus remove spyware, adware and pop ups from my computer

My computer seems to be infected with spyware. The bar at the bottom sometimes disappear and reappear. I have done a saf scan with Microsoft but at the end the problem remains. Right after the problem appeared, a program offeing to fix it pops up, it’s called WinIFixer and recommends me to get it. I don’t know what to do I have been thinking of going and purchasing a antivirus software from the store, but will that help remove the problem?
